Black Bean – Castanospermum australe – native Australian wildflower found from my local area of Lismore to Far North Qld. It produces beautifully coloured yellow/deep orange flowers in March to May which are then replaced by large seed pods. It was not always seen as beneficial to farmers as the large pods & seeds are poisonous to livestock. But when flowering the deep glossy leaves set off by the flowers which occur along the limbs are spectacular.
