Barking Owl Snapshot

Barking Owl Snapshot

The gorgeous piercing yellow eyes of the Barking Owl – Ninox connivens – instantly enthrall with this bird of the night.

It’s ‘barking’ call and screeching was apparently one of the sources for the development of the bunyip or yowie legend – a mystical creature said to be found around waterholes/billabongs.

This series of bird linocuts are based around the many photographs I have taken over the years – hence ‘snapshot’.
